He completed his master’s degree in jazz at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, Germany. In 2015 he won the Jazz Steinway Prize. His virtuosity and expressiveness give his piano playing a sound magic all of its own.

Igor Zavatckii is a highly respected figure in the world of jazz, known for his technical brilliance, emotional depth, and unwavering dedication to the art form. Born in St.Petersburg, Russia, in 1982, Zavatckii began playing the piano very late, at the age of 15. He studied classical and jazz piano at the University of fine Arts, St.Petersburg. In 2013, he moved to Germany to study at the renowned Folkwang Universität der Künste, where he honed his skills under the tutelage of some of the world's greatest jazz pianists. Since then, Zavatckii has become a sought-after performer and collaborator in the jazz world, known for his technical prowess, emotive playing, and ability to seamlessly blend elements of classical and jazz music. In 2015 he won the Steinway Jazz Prize, Germany. Zavatckii has also released several albums as a bandleader, including his critically acclaimed debut album "The Traveler” in 2016. His music has been praised for its sophistication and depth, as well as its ability to capture the essence of both traditional jazz and modern improvisation. In addition to his work as a performer and composer, Zavatckii is also an active educator, teaching masterclasses and workshops around the world. He is committed to passing on his knowledge and love of jazz to the next generation of musicians, and has been praised for his ability to inspire and mentor young talent.
