At tender age of three, Dezman was handed his first guitar which sparked off a lifetime of musical pursuits. Born Shema Desmond Christie Jr. he owes his African heritage to his Rwandan mother "Cyanzayire Marie Jeanne" and plants fhis Caribbean roots at the feet of "Desmond Nathaniel Christie" his father of Jamaican decent. His music is too, is a reflection of this identity, heritage, and the current human condition. His first first Album titled “Mama” was released in 2006 in Kigali-Rwanda and includes titles such as, Mama, Wimbabaza and Wale Watu, close to extinction,to name but a smattering. He has since moved to Germany and attained a Bachelors's degree in Media Technology. All this , while returning to his musical roots and aspirations, singing in Kinyarwanda, English, and Swahili. Dezman can boast of having performed alongside some globally acclaimed talents such as reggae artists Peter Morgan, Jah Mason, Horse Smouth, Alpha Blondy and Tiken Jah Fakoly. In 2019 he released the singles “FOR GRANTED" and “LIVE and LET LIVE” they have both reggae and African music flavors you can hear off of his second album "(Magic hour)" expected for release in December 2020. Live and Let Live is currently topping the summer 2020 charts(Top 5) in his home country Rwanda.

My music journey began in childhood, where I developed a deep passion for music. Over the years, I have honed my skills and ventured into music creation, releasing my first song in 2006. Since then, I have continued to release numerous songs, paving the way for my first indie album in 2020. Currently, I am hard at work on my second album, set to be released in 2024. Throughout my musical career, I have had the incredible opportunity to perform at various renowned music festivals, including the African Festival in Frankfurt, the Wangerooge Music Festival, the Friedberg Music Festival, and the Artificial Family Music Festival, among many others across Germany and Belgium. My music style is predominantly reggae, infused with the soulful sounds of African music. When performing live, I am accompanied by a talented full band. However, on occasions, I also enjoy performing in a more intimate acoustic setting with my fellow musician and brother in arms, Eric, who plays the acoustic guitar while I take on the vocals. Overall, my music adventures have been a testament to my dedication, creativity, and love for music, and I am excited to continue sharing my passion with the world through my upcoming album and future performances.
